Volunteers…We Need YOU! 
Won’t you consider volunteering your time and talents? Volunteers are always needed in our school to help with the many activities that we provide. Some of these activities are:
Auction—Many hands are needed to make and/collect basket items several months prior to the auction date, which is in early spring. Please call the office (412-761-7887) or email us at inquiry@assumptionchurch.org for information and contact names.
Book Fair—the annual Book Fair is held the week after Thanksgiving in the R.C.I.A. room. Proceeds from the Fair are used to purchase new books for the library. Volunteers help to:
§ Set up the Fair on a day prior to its start.
§ Work at the Fair during school hours and help students browse through the books, magazines, posters, etc.
§ Take down the materials after the Fair is over.
Box Tops for Education—(on-going)—This program earns cash for Assumption School. The work required can be done at home or in a designated room in the school building. Volunteers trim the 10 cents’ Box Top coupons and submit them to the Project Coordinator.
Campbell Soup Labels—(on-going)—Assumption School participates in this program (the Campbell Soup Label for Education program) and this allows us to obtain educational equipment for our school. Volunteers trim the soup labels and submit them to the program coordinator.
Catholic Schools Week—(the last full week in January of each year)—Catholic Schools Week highlights and promotes the excellence of sending your child to Assumption School where Great Beginnings Last a Lifetime! Volunteers are needed in classroom and for all-school fun activities.
Emergency Call Coordinator—This person(s) will coordinate the immediate calling of school families in any natural emergency situation. Contact the office (412-761-7887) for training information.
Homeroom Coordinator—each homeroom usually has one or two coordinators who help with Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine Day parties. Homeroom parents can also help with creating Festival or Auction baskets or projects for our fundraising activities.
Hospitality--Volunteers help to set up and serve refreshments at social activities throughout the year. Opportunities can be during the day, evening or weekend times.
Market Day—Assumption School participates in the Market Day program each month.
Volunteers help unpack and sort the frozen food one afternoon a month.
Marketing/Open House—You can help to promote our school by
- becoming involved in marketing activities and strategies to attract new students,
- relate our accomplishments and successes to the community,
- and continue to provide good information to our current families.
APTG Fundraising—The APTG (Assumption Parent Teacher Guild) at Assumption School sponsors fundraisers throughout the school year. The proceeds from these fundraisers help to improve and enhance many aspects of our school, some of which are:
Mardi Gras Pancake Dinner
Back-to-School, and End-of-Year Swim Parties
Fall Festival at Bayne Park
Secret Santa Shop—Volunteers are needed to help students purchase Christmas gifts. APTG coordinates this event. Please call the office (412-761-7887) for further information.
Service Projects—Depending on the project (Thanksgiving Food Drive, Super Bowl Food Drive), parent support is needed to help the Student Council in these projects.
Student Activities—Grades 5 and 8 participate in Forensics and the Science Fair as part of Student Activities. Forensics runs the entire school year, and the Science Fair occurs in spring. Please email Mrs. Spindler if you can help: tspindler@assumptionchurch.org .
Technology Committee—We need computer-savvy volunteers to help maintain our website. Please email us at inquiry@assumptionchurch.org for further information and contact names.
