Spiritual Formation
Our goal at Assumption School is to assist parents in the spiritual formation of their children. Each of our students is a unique, loved child of God and are on a journey toward reaching their full potential and capacity.

Parents have the unique responsibility for the education of their children; they are the first educators or catechists. They teach by their witness of faith, thought their values and attitudes, by their Christian example of love for Christ and his church. When children are baptized, parents accept the responsibility to raise their children in the practice of faith.

Liturgical and Personal Prayer
Liturgical and personal prayer is an expected outcome of the guidance and catechetical instruction provided. Students attend weekly Eucharistic Liturgy and begin each day with a prayer. We pary before and after lunch. We pray during religion class. We participate in Prayer Services. We pray as we prepare for the reception of sacraments. We pray before tests. Prayer is a daily priority.
Catechesis
Goals and objectives of our program are constant and consistent to enhance the spiritual formation and moral development of all students. A genuine, personal relationship with God and the response of worship and service are ultimate goals of the catechetical program.
Consistent with the Mission of our Parish, Assumption School strives to spiritually form your child by helping them to
Know Christ through formal religious instruction and integration of the faith dimension into each and every academic subject area and social activity.
Love Christ through participation in the sacramental life of the Church as well as the constant guidance of the Holy Spirit within our community.
Bring others to Christ through our witness as well as in answering the call to serve and help those in need within our community.
The Catholic Vision of Love
This program is designed to assist parents in fulfilling their responsibility as the primary educators of their children. It sets forth the beauty of the Church’s teaching on the family, marriage, and human sexuality. Students have CVOL classes four times a year from 5th to 8th grades. A parent meeting concerning this program is held yearly.
Prayer Room
D
In 2009, Ian Schrenk and John Plazek, two middle school students, took it upon themselves to create an Assumption School Student Prayer Room. It is a beautiful room that is located on the third floor of our school. The room is now under the care of Ben Plazek, John's brother.
School Chapel
Here are some students’ thoughts on this wonderful, new addition to the middle school hall:
I decided to create the Assumption School Student Chapel because I believe that everyone should have a quiet place to talk to our Lord. Before John and I came up with the idea to start a chapel, I noticed that some students were lacking in zeal and excitement when it came to prayer and meditation. I love to see kids’ faces when they walk into the chapel. They just freeze and say, “Wow, I didn’t even know this room existed.” We should get excited about prayer and self-evaluation because it helps us grow closer to God.

The new school chapel is a wonderful place to go to for prayer. It is quiet and soothing, and it gets you in the mood to pray. It is very calm and spiritually invigorating. I go to see the progress, pray for some of my own intentions, and pray for some of the intentions of others that are written on a list near the entrance. Overall, it’s a soothing place to visit. It is nice to know that the students who created this worked hard so that we can all spend a little more time with God.

Have you ever felt a need to get close to God? Well, I have. When I enter our middle school chapel, I feel God’s presence. I think the location is perfect. I enjoy using it, and I especially enjoy reading about the lives of saints in the extensive chapel library. If you haven’t used it, you should. Christ is always waiting for you to rush into his loving, pierced hands and spend time with Him.

I like the prayer chapel a lot. It’s a place where you can go and just meditate. It helps me because I can go there and pray before a test. I can also go there to ask for guidance. All of the things that Ian put on the wall help you pray and understand things more clearly. It’s also filled with statues, pictures, books, and rosaries. It even has Holy Water!
