APTG Constitution
The APTG’s main purpose is to…
Ø Advance Catholic education and the welfare of all the children of this school.
Ø To create and promote activities toward the enrichment of our children’s minds, hearts, and spirituality.
Ø To act in the promotion of parent-school activities and to increase interest in educational and civic affairs.
Ø To enhance the parents’ and teachers’ roles in the education of the child by increasing their knowledge of education and it processes, by increasing their mutual understanding of children, and by providing an opportunity for parents and teachers to work together for the good of the child in our Catholic School setting.
Membership
Ø Membership is open to individuals interested in the objectives of this organization and who express their interest by applying for membership. Meetings are open to all members of the parish.
Ø The APTG is composed of parents/guardians of school age children in all parishes involved with the school, teachers, the principal, and Assumption Parish Pastor.
Officers
Ø The President(s) presides at all APTG meetings and all APTG Executive Board Meetings
o The President(s) work with the administration to resolve concerns, appoint special committees, be an ex-officio member of all committees, and receive notices of all meetings.
Ø The officers of this guild shall be two Co-Presidents, four Vice-Presidents, a Recording Secretary, a Corresponding Secretary, and a Treasurer.
Ø Duties of the Vice-Presidents
o Vice-President of Community Affairs—develop an awareness in the membership of community affairs and community life; know the benefits, the methods, and means of implementing the benefits of federal and state laws to provide aid to non-public schools; to inform the membership of any impending legislation or governmental directives relating to the interest and needs of the membership.
o Vice-President of Membership and Volunteers—to promote membership, collect dues, and keep the Secretary informed of the membership; to provide the following services and talents of the parish to the school:
§ Homeroom mothers, crossing guards, cafeteria, fundraising, kindergarten laison
o Vice-President of Publicity—to provide the membership and community about the date and program of the meetings and other activities through various media; to promote the school and tell its “story.”
o Vice-President of Programs—to provide all opportunities for education and meaningful involvement of parents as suggested; to provide pertinent and excellent programming that will make for a viable and visable organization; to provide programs that are helpful to both parents and teachers.
Ø The Recording Secretary: keeps a record of all meetings of the APTG and the Executive Board; post a copy of the meetings on the school’s website and in the school’s office; handle all correspondence as required by the Executive Board.
Ø The Treasurer: receives all dues and other monies; provides a verbal financial report at each general meeting along with a written report.
Executive Board:
Ø The Administrative body of this organization is the Executive Board. The Board consists of the Pastor or priest-representative of the Parish, School Principal, and the organization’s Co-Presidents, Vice-Presidents, Secretaries, and Treasurer.
Ø Meetings of the Executive Board are held monthly.
