Mrs. Maier teaches all fourth grade subjects except Science.  She teaches Fifth Grade Social Studies.  She graduated from Slippery Rock University in 1970 with a BS in Elementary Education, Certification K-6.  She has been teaching for 27 years and taking 12 years to be at home with her children. This is her 15th year at Assumption and she has been nominated twice by parents for the Golden Apple Award.  Mrs. Maier states,

“Each child has a special talent.  It’s just hiding and waiting to be found.  It is the responsibility of every educator, partnered with the parent, to discover the strengths of each child in his/her care.  Spending so much time with a child on a daily basis gives me a joyful insight into the child and what his/her likes and dislikes are.

Teaching at Assumption School has been a very rewarding experience.  I love the fact that so many of the senior citizens I come in contact with went to the school.  They now see their grandchildren and great grandchildren attending the same school.  There is such a feeling of continuity.”
