Mr. Richard Bell, Grade 6
Mr. Richard Bell teaches Social Studies to Grades 6 through 8, Spanish to grades 5 through 8, and Math to upper graders. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a BS in Elementary Education. He has been teaching for 31 years and last year was his 30th year at Assumption.
Mr. Bell states,
“I am committed to the religious, academic, personal, and social development of all my students. I continue to practice and educate my students in traditional values of self-discipline, responsibility, work ethic, perseverance, honesty, loyalty, and faith. I want to allow all students to be successful and develop a genuine appreciation for learning.
There is a sense of contentment and closeness here at Assumption among the faculty. It’s a family. The students seem happy and have the security of knowing that they are being cared for. The distractions of disciplinary problems and disrespect that we hear about today are virtually non-existent here. This allows me to devote all my time to teaching. The parents here are fantastic and we support each other.”
After 30 years, Mr. Bell states, "It is difficult to pick out any one memorable experience. There have been many. One thing I never forget is when a student or parent comes back to tell me how much they enjoyed my classes.”
